The red bus is a safe and secure way to see Cape Town and Joburg. And while we try our very best to ensure all our passengers are well looked after while they hop on and off, we can’t keep an eye out for you once you’ve hopped off to explore a stop.
In an effort to ensure you have a good journey from start to finish, we’ve put together a list of useful hints and tips for all red bus passengers.
All stops are clearly marked with City Sightseeing signs. You’ll also find route maps on the bus and in brochures (or online) so you can plan which stops to hop off at.
Our staff wear branded City Sightseeing gear and are stationed at offices, on buses, and at major stops. If someone claims to work for City Sightseeing but isn’t in uniform, they probably don’t.
Keep phones, wallets, and bags close and out of sight. Be aware in crowded or touristy areas. Use a money belt or an inside zipped pocket if you can.
If someone offers unsolicited help at an ATM, decline politely. Don’t share your PIN or let others handle your card.
The buses mostly run during the day, but if you’re at a lookout or stop near dusk or after dark, try to stay in groups and steer clear of quiet or deserted spots.
It’s not always necessary, but booking ahead helps you secure a seat, especially in peak season.
